The Aguasabon Chamber of Commerce, organized in 1986, is an action-oriented organization meeting the needs of the business community in Jackfish, Terrace Bay, Schreiber, and Rossport.

Our Chamber is an impressive volunteer organization of individuals and businesses that pool their ideas and energy to advance the commercial, financial, industrial, and civic interests of our collective communities.

February 2015
Burger Wars ran from February 13-24 and Drifters Restaurant was named the champion at the Corporate Pictionary Event in Schreiber.  Many thanks to the restaurants who participated and came up with such incredible creations.  Planning is ramping up for the 2015 Business Awards Gala.
 
November 2014
Moonlight Madness is almost here and we are hard at work planning for it.  The Chamber recently initiated three advertising campaigns.  The first being a radio and print campaign leading up to Moonlight Madness.  Staff are registering businesses, collecting prizes and setting up the event.  The second is a unique Shop Local radio campaign in partnership with Marathon EDC/Chamber, Town of Manitouwadge, Longlac Chamber, and the Geraldton Chamber.  The third advertising campaign is Facebook based and will featured gift ideas and promotions at local businesses to show residents how they can fill their shopping needs locally.

Congratulations Michele Godin on her hiring as the new Chamber Coordinator. Michele brings a wealth of experience in events planning and administration from her previous role. We are very excited to have Michele join our team! She can be reached at aguasabonchamber@gmail.com. We are working on planning a Meet the Candidates night for the Municipal and School elections in mid October and supporting NAPA Speziale Pro Hardware in hosting a Business After Hours event on October 7th.

Great month for the Chamber with the Suds and Dogs golf tournament being a huge success and the Business After Hours event hosted by Drifters Restaurant.

We have begun looking for a Chamber Coordinator casual position to assist with the operation of our organization.  We are also gearing up for another Business After 5 event and the Suds & Dog Golf Tournament. 
 
April 2014
The First Annual Business Awards Gala was a huge success.  Approximately 160 people attended the event which included the Chamber Annual General Meeting, an update from AV Terrace Bay, professional speaker Curt Skene presenting on the need for networking, and the awards ceremony.  Many thanks to Chef Sam Mattar for the amazing food, Curt Skene, Giovanni Iadeluca, Anne Marie Bourgeault, MC Jason Nesbitt and photographer Doug Gibbons.  The event was made possible by a financial donation from Superior North CFDC, as funded by FedNor.

We are hard at work on the Business Awards Gala.  We graciously have received funding from Superior North FDC, as funded by FedNor, for the event which is designed to show off our business community while learning from speaker Curt Skene.  For more info, visit the Business Awards Gala webpage.

The first "Business After Five" event was held with 26 people in attendance.  The networking event was a great success and is planned to be held every 3-4 months.  The chamber continues to expand its efforts with recent accomplishments including - the New Residents' Guide and  Chamber Chat articles in the local newspaper.  The Chamber also has a Facebook page with regular updates.  Membership is now up to 36 businesses and future plans include the Moonlight Madness holiday sales and a Business Appreciation Gala in early 2014.

We had a great turn out at our last meeting and are working to have the organization more active.  In partnership with the Township of Terrace Bay and The McCausland Hospital, we have hired Business Development Intern Christina Bayko with funding from NOHFC.  We are looking to developing a new plan of action for the upcoming year and completing initiatives to aid our business community.  For more information, email Christina at bdi@terracebay.ca or call 1-807-825-3315, x239.
